With players like Eusébio, Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal has a great history of great football players. In spite of having great players, they only won the tournament for the first time in 2016 when they beat France in extra time by 1-0. 

Qualifying for the tournament was very easy for Portugal by winning all games to qualify ending on top in the group and scoring 32 goals in total and only conceding 2. 

The champions of 2016 will enter the tournament in group F with opponents Turkey, Georgia and Czech Republic and are considered the favorites to win their group. The tournament will most likely be the last one for Cristiano Ronaldo, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest footballers of all time.

From 1996 until 2020, Portugal has always survived the group stage and made it to the final twice. The squad of 2024 has experienced players like Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Bernaldo Silva to lead the team to victory but also the new generation with players like João Felix and Rafael Leão to set their mark in Europe. With a record of 203 matches and 127 goals, Cristiano Ronaldo has made a legacy for himself as one of the greatest and iconic players of all time and is set to win a trophy for his country one last time.
